NYC with kids.

In a lot of ways, NYC is great for kids!  There is lots of free stuff, great parks and fantastic events for kids.  But in many ways it's also not so great.... as in any city I guess.  We have been using public transportation to get everywhere and some of the billboards on the subway are pretty inappropriate.  Apparently there is an HBO show called "Masters of Sex" that is advertised everywhere with a picture that goes with it's name.  It's on the subways and on the taxis all around here.  And that's just the beginning of the "sights" around the city!

We've also had to teach Hannah when to shut her mouth use a quiet voice when we are out and about.  She has finally stopped shouting "What smells?" when we walk by certain restaurants or people.  We're still working on the "Do Not Point" rule.  I understand there is ALOT to point at around this city so we have narrowed it down to just not pointing at other people to start.

We also are learning to navigate the streets and wait for the correct signal when crossing the street. The other day we were standing on the corner surrounded by people and Hannah says (out loud) "We are just waiting on the white man."  Needless to say, we have now made sure she refers to the signal as the "walking man."

No matter what city, I'm happy as long as I'm with these too... and my hot shot soon-to-be lawyer husband
